URGENT will be providing first aid training for the 26 Oromiya police officers in the Asendabo/Jimma area. In a region where emergency medicine is not a recognized specialty and EMS does not exist [yet], this is a wonderful opportunity to help a police force that wants nothing more than to be able to help their people as much as they can. A prime example of the need for this happened just a few weeks prior to this meeting where a mini-bus packed with people wrecked. Unfortunately, 3 people lost their lives in this tragic accident. With future plans underway to furnish equipment and EMS for the area, everyone will benefit from starting with a police force trained to deal with.
